Camp Cook and General Labourer
As a Camp Cook and General labourer at Black Moose Outposts, you will assist the Resort Manager in providing exceptional culinary and hospitality services to our clients. Your key role will include planning and cooking meals for guests at remote outposts, procurement of products, inventory control, food safety and sanitation, setting up and serving guest their daily meals, and catering to guests’ general hospitality needs and preferences. Additionally, you will participate in minor maintenance, cleaning and property upkeep tasks as needed

Key Responsibilities
- Meal Planning, Preparation and Service: Assist with menu planning and procurement, execute daily set up, preparation, and service of guest meals, and be responsible for inventory control, food safety, sanitation, cleaning of work and serving areas, and overall guest hospitality satisfaction at the outpost.
- General labourer work & Maintenance: Participate in minor camp and equipment maintenance, and general property upkeep as needed.
- Assistance with supplies and luggage transport: Help with loading and unloading various goods, being transported to the outpost by the floatplane.
- Collaboration: Work alongside Housekeepers and Pilots, for efficient property upkeep, loading and unloading of supplies, luggage, and equipment.
- Travel Flexibility: Fly to, and stay at, various remote outposts as needed, to conduct key culinary and hospitality responsibilities and assist with general laborer tasks.
- Requirements and Skills:
- Previous culinary experience in the hospitality industry or in care facilities, additional background in service and guest hospitality satisfaction roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with common culinary and maintenance products, supplies and equipment.
- Friendly approachable demeanor, with a focus on culinary and hospitality satisfaction.
- Professional appearance and work ethic.
- Basic proficiency in English (B1 level).
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Chef/Cook Certification and must have a Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Willingness to fly to – and stay at – different remote outposts via floatplane.
Additional Information:
- Accommodation: Living accommodations at the outposts are provided.
- Seasonal Position: During the fishing and hunting season – May through October.
- Location: Red Lake, (Northwestern) Ontario, Canada.
- Travel and Stay: Floatplane flights to stay at our various outposts for at least a week at a time.
Experience will be reflected in hourly wage.
